Position Overview

The Manager, Regional Security is responsible for all aspects of security requirements at DSC’s Colonial Heights, VA Logistics Center and three additional Logistics Centers in the Winston-Salem, NC area. The Manager, Regional Security will provide security leadership with local management on providing oversight to the security related procedures and policies. These activities will include managing the security guard service, the electronic security systems and other life safety equipment located at the Logistics Centers. The Manager will also maintain relationships with the law enforcement authorities that support the operations based on certain situations.

Position Responsibilities

  • Oversee and manage the administration of security services.
  • Ensure that Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) are in place and maintained.
  • Ensure the vendor team is compliant with SOPs, established contractual staffing levels, and performance expectations.
  • Assess risk to the company and customer’s physical assets and human capital; develop plans to minimize and/or prevent risk.
  • Assess effectiveness of security staff services and make recommendations for improvements.
  • Oversee, monitor, and maintain functionality of security systems.
  • Act as a liaison with local, state, and federal law enforcement agencies.
  • Ensure effective and consistent communications regarding cargo security intelligence with cargo security councils and law enforcement task forces.
  • Ensure cost effective maintenance and repair of security systems.
  • Assess, develop, implement, and maintain preventative, emergency, and recovery security action plans.

Job Qualifications

Required

  • 10 years of experience in physical security, asset protection, and complex investigations.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Criminal Justice, Law Enforcement Administration, or related field.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of and experience with security systems technology.
  • Demonstrated ability to anticipate and resolve security issues and challenges.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate with and educate all levels of internal, vendor, and customer staff in security matters.
  • Experience in vendor contract negotiation and administration.

Preferred

  • Experience within corporate, distribution, warehousing, and/or logistics industry.
  • Previous law enforcement and/or military experience.
  • Certification through ASIS as a Certified Protection Professional (CPP) preferred. If not certified, commitment to pursue this within 24 months.

  • Excellent problem solving and investigative skills
  • Ability to travel up to approximately 30% of the time.
