Position Overview

The Operations Optimization Leader is responsible for using business intelligence to drive operational efficiency and continuous improvement across a network of DSC Logistics Centers. The Operations Optimization Leader will manage analysts, inventory control specialists and quality specialists and will spend most of the time working with the the operations teams to improve efficiency in order to meet production and quality goals.


Position Responsibilities

Plan for and monitor the efficiency and effectiveness of DSC Logistics Centers

  • Collaborate with the facility’s Supply Chain Leaders to set overall operational capacity plan for assigned Logistics Centers including production plans, staffing plans, stretch goals, schedules and MHE allocations
  • Act as liaison with engineering; manage the execution of zoning, layout and pick-lines
  • Utilize data and forecasts to identify opportunities for change; evaluate each Logistics Center’s adherence to standards and leading practices

Manage inventory control, quality and operations efficiencies

  • Ensure compliance and improvement of all Inventory Control and Quality Management practices across the network
  • Establish and manage food safety, sanitation and regulatory programs
  • Manage the execution and communication of all audits, inspections, customer-specific requirements and policy deviations
  • Ensure the team is reinforcing compliance to quality practices through sustained adherence to management reviews, audits, documentation, and CAPAs
  • Support management reviews, quality continuous improvement and quality planning as part of overall customer network goals
  • Analyze and manage labor expense, including performance data

Drive continuous improvement mindset and activity to achieve customer business objectives

  • Evaluate leading practices for improvement including network-wide recommendations
  • Execute DSC’s visual management program
  • Manage continuous improvement program

Manage the Operations Optimization team across the network

  • Ensure analysts and specialists are delivering results for the customer
  • Connect the Operations Optimization team members to DSC’s and Customer’s business objectives
  • Conduct regular team meetings
  • Hold employees accountable for performance

Job Qualifications

Required

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • 3+ years of operations experience in a 3PL/ distribution facility environment with a focus on Continuous Improvement, Lean and/or Six Sigma
  • Business acumen and analytical expertise
  • Highly developed skills in leadership, communication and cross functional teamwork
  • Understanding of warehousing operations with experience in a distribution and/or manufacturing environment
  • Ability to travel to assigned Logistics Centers as necessary

Preferred

  • 3-5 years of operations management experience with a focus on Continuous Improvement, Lean and/or Six Sigma
  • Familiarity with warehouse management systems or Red Prairie WMS is a plus
  • Experience managing team members remotely
  • Certifications in Continuous Improvement, Lean and/or Six Sigma
