Licensing Specialist

Position Overview

Reporting to the Manager, Regulatory and Compliance, this position is responsible for ensuring DSC’s network-wide compliance with all regulatory and licensing requirements for its logistics operations in the US. Regulatory and Licensing is part of DSC’s Quality System and is expected to support DSC’s business goals. This role is responsible for the completion of all DSC’s regulatory filings, including securing new and renewal licenses and registrations for state and federal agencies, processing documentation, tracking status, and record keeping and reporting. This position will be the primary point of contact for all licensing and registration matters, and will interact with all levels of agencies, customers and DSC team members.

Position Responsibilities

Regulatory Management

  • Obtain and maintain licenses, registrations and bonds necessary to operate DSC’s FDA-regulated Logistics Centers (LC) throughout the US.
  • Maintain and manage a diverse set of fast-paced activities requiring attention to detail and a total commitment to meeting deadlines.
  • Manage a dynamic portfolio of planned and unplanned licenses and registrations
  • Support management in identifying, assessing, reporting and resolving business or regulatory changes that impact our logistics centers
  • Provide DSC stakeholders with reliable interpretations of regulations and jointly diagnose how the regulations impact their LC

People Leadership

  • Provide clear, and concise guidance to LC leaders about the application process, submission requirements, personnel requirements, and timing that impacts their LCs
  • Establish and cultivate relationships with agency contacts through professional correspondence and communication; leverage these relationships to resolve issues and accelerate approvals
  • Network, collaborate, and foster relationships with internal stakeholders and customers:
  • Use of efficient, responsive, and non-technical communication about licensing requirements and the risks of non-compliance.
  • Proactively develop cross-functional knowledge of business operations.
  • Win horizontal and vertical support essential to building/maintaining a culture of regulatory compliance.

Information & System Management

  • Maintain a reporting structure of current regulatory requirements for use by business operations
  • Track, manage and report all filings for all DSC LCs.
  • Log and track paper and electronic filings of registration documents and correspondence with regulatory agencies.

Job Qualifications

Required

  • Working knowledge of the laws, regulations and Good Distribution Practices for health care and food distribution and warehousing.
  • Proficiency managing and executing the processes for securing and renewing licenses and registrations for state and FDA regulated distribution/warehouse facilities.
  • Knowledge of agency and industry tools and resources to quickly learn and adapt to unfamiliar or new licensing.
  • Ability to articulate (written, verbal) technical concepts in clear, concise, audience-appropriate terms
  • Demonstrated ability to recognize and protect confidential information.

Preferred

  • Preferred bachelor's degree in supply chain or logistics or related field or equivalent combination of experience and education.
  • At least five (5) years of regulatory and licensing experience in health care supply chain (distribution, warehousing, logistics) or food supply chain.
  • Strong proficiency with Microsoft Excel, and Microsoft database tools
