Position Overview

This position will lead an Industrial Engineering team that supports 50 Logistics Centers nationwide with a focus on best practice adherence, service level enhancements, tools utilization, operating environment optimization, and tactical analysis work. The successful candidate will utilize metrics to objectively assess and reduce costs within existing operations. Ability to drive and sustain change in a positive manner is paramount. This will require a structured and creative approach to problem solving and the ability to effectively partner with Logistics Center management, customers, and vendors to reduce variable labor costs.

Position Responsibilities

Project Management

  • Prioritizes and effectively manages complex projects with limited oversight.
  • Maintains high standards of despite pressing deadlines.
  • Supports corporate improvement initiatives by ensuring flawless initial execution and sustained adoption.
  • Provides technical background to internal and external customers regarding solution creation process.
  • Responsible for integrity of methods and accuracy of solutions provided by department.

Strategic Planning

  • Develops and defines department initiatives.
  • Organizes department meetings.
  • Acts as liaison between engineering department and upper management/field operations.
  • Collaborates with internal departments to develop new technology opportunities.
  • Maintains effective vendor relationships to ensure low cost/high value to DSC.
  • Assists with creation of annual department budget.

People Leadership

  • Manages resource allocation of team to effectively organize and schedule people and tasks.
  • Works with Logistics Center management to develop a true team approach that leads to world-class performance and enhanced worker satisfaction.
  • Mentors and coaches employees to ensure they are capable of effectively performing all aspects of their job.
  • Conducts quarterly and annual performance reviews for all direct reports.

Job Qualifications


  • Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering and 5+ years experience in warehousing and distribution in a management role.
  • Experience designing and leading physical facility transformation solutions that include racking systems, material handling equipment, and new processes.
  • Demonstrated ability to drive change without negatively affecting service levels.
  • Methodology for ensuring accuracy of department’s solution designs.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD is critical.
  • Strong PC skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access and Project.
  • Strong written, verbal and interpersonal skills.
  • Regular travel to logistics centers (Up to 50%).


  • Transportation experience
  • Red Prairie/JDA DLx Labor Warehouse Labor Management (WLM)
  • Proficiency with preferred methods, engineered standards, MSD & time study, managing direct and indirect performance, and planning tools.
  • Experience with simulation software.

Work Environment

This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office and computer equipment.
