Job Description

Position Overview

Reporting to the Director of Total Rewards, this position will support administration and facilitate communications of the Benefits team. The position will participate and support projects and initiatives that improve service to all employees. The Benefits Specialist manages the day to day administration of our 401(k) and ACA programs. Finally, the role ensures employee communications and access to relevant benefit information is timely and as easy as possible.


Benefits Administration

  • 401(k) plan administration, including contribution files and non-discrimination testing, rollovers, QDROs, distributions, loans, hardships.
  • Support annual plan audits and compliance testing.
  • Assist with quarterly ACA audits to identify average hours’ employees are trending throughout the year and distribute details along with guidance and talking point to regional HR Business Partners.
  • Document and maintain administrative procedures for assigned benefits processes.
  • Process and administer all leave-of-absence requests and disability paperwork: medical, personal, disability and FMLA.

Benefits Communication

  • Assist with leading annual enrollment activities such as create/present annual enrollment communication, rollout of new programs and testing HRIS to audit the accuracy of benefits enrollment setup.
  • Partner with DSC’s Benefit Consultants and the Director in creating and updating benefit communication materials, websites and intranet are up to date and support our DSC’s benefits strategy; leads benefit communication efforts such as monthly or quarterly announcement/newsletters.
  • Respond to complex benefits inquiries quickly and efficiently.

Benefits Projects

  • Participate benefit projects and initiatives aimed at improving services for our employee population.
  • Maintain positive, productive relationships with third party vendors, including brokers, benefit plan provides, and outsourcing resources.

Job Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resource, Business Management or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • 5 - 7 years of employee benefit experience in a corporate office environment
  • Solid knowledge of Microsoft Office, Excel and preferred experience with Ultimate software (UltiPro)
  • Relies on extensive experience and judgement to planned and accomplished goal

This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office and computer equipment.
