Job Description

Position Overview

The Field Operations Trainer is responsible for providing training, both in a classroom and operations setting, to all newly hired Logistics Center employees as well as retraining current Logistics Center employees as needed. He/she will ensure all company training guidelines are adhered to. In addition to delivering training, the Field Operations Trainer is also responsible for reporting, tracking and maintaining all training program documents and ensuring compliance with the program. The Field Operations Trainer may be asked to support training during a startups.

Position Responsibilities

Training Delivery

  • Conduct new hire training in both classroom and operations settings as outlined in DSC’s company training plan
  • Provide a positive experience to trainees in order to ensure their successful integration into DSC
  • Conduct knowledge and operational assessments during the training process including Safety, Forklift, Battery Exchange, and/or Propane Tank Exchange
  • Provide on-going training for Logistics Center staff which includes cross-training for all employees learning additional Logistics Center functions and monthly safety refresher training
  • Conduct training and coaching for HOT Trainers (Hands-On Training)
  • Train employees on Logistics Center leading practices and processes, as well as site-specific operations requirements
  • Train new employees in safe equipment operation, Logistics Center policies and procedures

Administration and Recordkeeping

  • Prepare and organize all training materials required to deliver training
  • Maintain all training and observation records for all employees
  • Provide daily communication to management on progress of trainees and other relevant topics as required

Observations & Coaching

  • Conduct Post New-Hire Training Observations, 1-8 weeks after classroom training
  • Conduct Learning / Try-Out Period Observations as employees are cross-trained on additional functions
  • Review daily/weekly reports to monitor new employee progress and encourage success

Other

  • Support pre-employment forklift assessments
  • Support continual improvement activities and other internal process training
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Job Qualifications

Required

  • Previous experience in a training role
  • Strong presentation, instructional and facilitation skills
  • Demonstrated ability to provide constructive feedback in a professional manner
  • Experience in complying with Safety and Quality standards
  • Experience in large, fast paced logistics/ distribution environment
  • Ability to work on various shifts and support other local facilities as needed
  • High School Diploma/GED equivalent

Preferred

  • Understanding of WMS, POP, and other DSC systems with the ability to utilize technology
  • Knowledge of and ability to operate a forklift and use an RF
  • Associates degree or higher
